Thanks to the outstanding quality of the exhibits, visitors get a unique insight into the fascinating diversity of three centuries of american art. how alive, innovation and experiment in these, illustrate both world divided famous as well as in this country, little-known paintings, sculptures and photographs, as well as examples of native american art. in eight of the exhibition, the exhibits reflect in chronological order the fundamental artistic developments and trends. the look is impressive proof that it is not “the a” u.s.-american art history, but a variety of those. “once upon a time in america” offers a broad audience a unique opportunity to meet the us-american art, with a current look and not to expand the own image of america. according to the content and scope of the special exhibition in the wallraf will be the first of its kind in germany.
